A flood of Lithuanian Displaced Persons poured into Australia after World War II. They integrated well, in spite of their lack of English, non recognition of their qualifications and being required to work as labourers for the first year or two. Their families have become dinki-di Aussies and their thriving communities throughout the country ensure that the ancient Lithuanian culture and language still enrich the multicultural nature of the Australian society.
