Intrepid “Ambersail” Sailors Round Cape Horn

Lithuania’s intrepid yachtsmen aboard the yacht “Ambersail” rounded the legendary Cape Horn at the tip of South America and landed in Ushuaia, in Argentinean part of Tierra del Fuego, early on Saturday morning (Sydney time) on January 14, 2009. After leaving Ushuaia and calling on in the Chilean port of Port Williams to complete immigration formalities, “Ambersail” rounded Cape Horn once more on February 16 (Lithuania’s Independence Day) on its way to next port of call, Berisso in Argentina.

dispersed around the world to celebrate their common Lithuanian heritage. It set out from the port of Klaipëda in Lithuania on October 5, 2008. Its visit to Australia was from December 25, 2008, to January 3, 2009. After Australia it called in on New Zealand and then began its long journey across the Pacific Ocean. It is scheduled to return to Klaipëda on Lithuania’s National Day, July 6, 2009.
